An important component of the creative problem solving (CPS) process is accepting the problem ahead of you. Many times you do not understand or even know what the problem is. However, you do need to make the decision to move forward and try to accept what is ahead of you. Through this step, you begin to understand your motivation to solve the problem.
To start this blog, I had to ask myself, "What's in it for me?" Turns out, there is a lot for me to gain from initiating this blog. As stated in my previous post, this blog is my journal to develop my teaching and research portfolio related to creative problem solving. In turn, this will help me publish more for my academic career; increase my teaching opportunities; and hopefully develop opportunities for consulting and a new business. But probably more important, I get to pursue an interest of mine that started during my undergraduate studies at Iowa State University.
